MSX SimCity version 1.0 features are (things noted here are not present on original version):
Complete conversion from Spectrum (but the bugs!).
It is possible to load a city from title screen (no need to wait a long "generating landscape"!).
SaveGames stores full data PLUS game configurations, such as game speed, music state, selected difficult and so on.
Starting map is always random (unless the user select a specific seed inside the game menu).
Special menu to config music and sound status (ON/OFF).
Improved pointer movement, which is 4x4 when using joystick or keyboard (speccy was 4x1, which was annoying).
New pointer used when "pan" button is pressed.
The numbers on status screen are now ordered just like the numeric keypad.
Special character font based on the original Spectrum one
Compatible with any MSX computer (yes!)
PSG music when 128KB of memory mapper is detected (even on MSX1!) - STOP can be used to disable/enable it
Joystick support (keep a button pressed while loading).
Mouse support (even on MSX1!).
Use of sprites to show the pointer (blinking, nice!).
Palette specially designed when running on MSX2 or better computers, based on ZX Spectrum palette.
Some colors changed from original to add more colors to the game.
It is a "file" version. That is: it will run from disk or hard disk.
Compatible with any MSX-DOS version (from 1.0 to 2.4).
MSX-DOS Friendly: the game allows "exit to DOS".
"Full" speed (faster than Spectrum) when running on 7MHz (or faster) computers.
On faster computers the game is sync'ed using HALT instruction.
"Playable" speed (similar to Spectrum) when running on 3.57MHz or more.
The minimum requirements for any MSX are 64Kbytes RAM, 16KBytes VRAM and DOS 1.x.
The recommended/optimum equipment is: MSX2 running at 7MHz (or more), 128KBytes RAM, 16KBytes VRAM, DOS 2.x and HardDisk.
I am thinking to add the following features:
None.
Improvements that will not be:
Screen N conversion or (even more) graphical colorization.
